ADOPT - Give a forever home

The majority of the animals we rescue are transferred to shelters in the United States, but we are occasionally asked if dogs can be adopted. These requests are often from foster parents who cannot let go of their foster pet (happily & famously called FOSTER FAILS!), but many islanders also want to offer forever homes to our Cayman Coconuts to complete their families.

Each potential adopter is interviewed and their premises inspected to ensure that the animal will be going to a home where it will be loved and cared for, as it deserves. Our organisation will ensure that your new pet is also in excellent health so you have no concern that you will be taking on a sick animal.

"Saving one animal will not change the world,
but surely for that one animal, the world will change forever"

  • You will save a life!

You will be saving an animal whom someone else has thoughtlessly thrown away

  • You get a healthy pet!

All of the animals that we take into our care are immediately examined by Island Veterinary Services. They are tested for worms, vaccines are administered and any other medical conditions are treated. It is important to remember that these rescues have usually landed up in this situation not because of something they have done, but because of something someone has done e.g. moved house, lost interest or are under financial constraints that have led them to abandon the animal

  • You will save money!

Adopting a shelter pet saves you the cost of buying from a breeder or pet store.

  • You will feel better - seriously!

Pets put a smile on your face. They love you no matter what mood you are in, no matter how you look in your clothes. It's unconditional love. And if you have not yet read about how psychologically, emotionally and physically beneficial owning a pet is for you, start Googling now! Did you know that just spending time with a loved pet can lower your blood pressure? So, pets are not just good friends - they are great medicine too!

  • You will help stop "puppy mills"!

As long as people buy puppies from back yard breeders, "puppy mills" will continue. Adopting shelter animals will, and does, reduce this phenomenon, and in turn, you will prevent animals from being abused in factory style breeding environments where they are often housed in poor conditions with improper medical care, with zero love or respect.
